About the event

If you are interested in the adaptation 'side' of ClimateTech, and networking with other practitioners who recognize the role technology plays in helping indsutry and society deal with our new climate reality, this program is for you.

The adaptation 'side' of Climate

The 'war on carbon' will necessarily continue; however, there is a movement building amongst investors, corporates, academia, government, and nonprofits that for every pound we 'invest' into solutions that stop/slow/sequester GHG emissions, a pound should be 'invested' into solutions that help indsutry and society deal with our new climate reality.

Water-risk but not the 'water industry'

Heat, fire, and wind are massive risks, but many point to water quantity and quality as the risk both public and private sectors should be most concerned about. Whether too much water, too little water, or climate-change-induced impaired water,  farmers, factories, families, and fortunes are at risk.  Water, in the context of climate, is less about the so-called 'water industry' and more about how climate-change-induced water risk is creating headaches for industries as diverse as insurance, power generation, and aquaculture.    Water/wastewater utilities will most certainly face challenges in our new climate reality, but climate-change water risks go far beyond thewater/wastewater sector.

The role of technology in helping us adapt

Resiliency 'studies' and climate risk 'reports' will continue to be published,  but there is a growing recognition that technological innovations need to be employed if industry and society are to effectively adapt to water risks in our new climate reality.  Furthermore, we need to leverage the creativity and maverick nature of entrepreneurs who are bringing tools to market that enable companies and communities of all sizes to prepare for water quantity and quality risks. This event's Technology Showcase features 8 founders of young companies who are bringing to market technology innovations that help their customers adapt to whatever coastal marine or freshwater-related risks global warming brings their way in the next decade.
